GRAPHIC TIME ‘DOT’ by RAW COLOR for VIJ5

Graphic Time is a series of abstract clocks designed by Raw Color at the occasion of their solo exhibition ‘Blend’ at The Aram Gallery in London. Together with Vij5, one of the models (the Graphic Time ‘dot’) has been further developed and taken into production.

The kinetic object is a graphic interpretation of a functional clock. The 3 colored half circles represent hours, minutes and seconds. The moving discs, perforated to reduce weight, are continuously creating different appearances by the passing of time. The object is a combination of movement and ever-changing compositions that displays time in a subtle manner.

Raw Color is a collaboration of the designers Christoph Brach (’79) and Daniera ter Haar (’81). They graduated at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2007 and set up their practice in 2008. In their Eindhoven based studio, they are working on self-initiated and commissioned projects. Their work reflects a sophisticated treatment of material by mixing the fields of graphic design, photography and textile design. Together with their team, they are developing a visual language that is verbally direct, energetic and recognizable. Within these aspects, the materialization of colour plays a key role and can be seen as the core of the studio. By experimenting and trusting their intuition Raw Color has created a design language that is stretching the borders of their discipline.
